One of the most serious pest of our postmodern society is the presence of addiction. It is not the first time an evil is so widespread, but perhaps for the first time in many centuries addictions are considered a social evil of such proportions. The numbers that gives the 2008 national survey on addictions in Mexico are very serious because they speak of 20 percent of Federal District youth who have used the drug. The most serious is that in that same survey shows that 12 percent of young people have experienced the drug in the family, either by the father, mother or brother. And this is something tremendous, because we see that the problem of addiction has a serious following in the situation that exists in the family.
When so many young people are exposed at home to the presence of addiction, we must worry about the fact that this addiction will generate in them a tendency to repeat the behaviors of parents or relatives, sometimes under the influence, sometimes rebellious, sometimes by desperation. And the problem is that this is just spreading from generation to generation. The question for the cause of addiction is very diverse, they may be the pressures of modern society, may be the desire to be in any group, but what no doubt is that it has to do with the deep dissatisfaction experienced by humans.
One dissatisfaction is understandable in this consumerist world that offers you everything and that fools saying that all we're going to be happy. But then we realize it is not so and that all around us is the solitude. And precisely here is where the family can be a wonderful aid in this society of drug abuse. Because parents, siblings, extended family, have the ability to give two remedies to this volatile mix of dissatisfaction and loneliness. The family can give and company valuation, appreciation and closeness. For this there is no need or major studios, or great wealth, just being able to be family. In addition the family is in possession of two weapons. The family may be the best environment for drug prevention and family may be the best environment for recovery of the drug. Because while healing programs are very good in the end only the family will stay with the person who has suffered from addiction. Only you can defend the family from falling back into the networks that those who trade in human life will try to build. Just follow the family as someone trying to give you valuable and necessary for the company not be tempted to re-orient themselves to the ways of the night's addiction. Therefore, each member of the family must feel called to return to combat addiction to the most powerful force, the strength of the bonds of love between all. In this month's family, resolve to fight against addictions, resolve to do better the bonds of our family.
